Symptoms
In the controller's EWC Product Keys section:
  • Controller is within a triggered 7-day Grace Period.
  • Error message "Apply product key failed: Permanent license is not allowed."
Environment
  • IdentiFi Wireless controller
  • WS-C20, WS-C25, WS-C35 (30135), WS-C2400, WS-C4110, WS-C5110, WS-C5210, WS-V2110
  • Domain Activation license
  • WS-REG9P-NAM, WS-REG9P-ROW, WS-V2110-9-NAM, WS-V2110-9-ROW, WS-REG10P-FCC (30311), WS-REG10P-ROW (30312), WS-V2110-10-FCC (30313), WS-V2110-10-ROW (30314), other similar
Cause
The Domain Activation license is for the correct firmware line (e.g. v9 or v10), was activated to the correct Locking ID value, and has been applied to the controller as an Activation Key. However, it is for the wrong Regulatory Domain; for example NAM or FCC instead of ROW, or ROW instead of NAM or FCC.
Which IdentiFi Wireless Controller Regulatory Domain Licenses apply to a specific Country?
Resolution
This unusual situation is a bit tricky to correct, since the Activation Key field is now grayed out, no longer accepting of any replacement Activation Key value.
