MIB file too large for MIB browser import in WhatsUp Gold
When importing an EXOS MIB file into WhatsUp Gold that is over the limit of 2MB, an error message indicating that the file size should be less than 2MB, is displayed:
EXOS MIB files that are 2MB and over.
Some MIB browsers will have a limit to the file size in which can be imported into the MIB browser or NMS.
EXOS MIB files also bundle the MIB definitions into one MIB file as opposed to separate MIB files for each MIB definition. The definition can be seen on where it begins and where it ends by identifying where the begin and end statements are located. The following is an example taken from the 220.127.116.11-patch1-6_MIB.txt file using the Extreme Base MIB definition:
EXTREME-BASE-MIB DEFINITIONS ::= BEGIN
IMPORTS enterprises FROM RFC1155-SMI TEXTUAL-CONVENTION FROM SNMPv2-TC MODULE-IDENTITY FROM SNMPv2-SMI; ... ... mac-address(1), serial-number(2), ip-address(3)}
The definitions can be manually split based on the definitions needed or a MIB splitter tool can be used separate the definitions into their own individual files.
