Symptoms
  • In NetSight Console the Switch has red triangle icon
  • NetSight Console shows SNMP Contact Lost
  • MIB Tool shows (-35) Authentication Failure
  • All other switches using same SNMP profile show Contact Established
Environment
  • NetSight Console
  • MIB Tool
  • CLI on Securestack Products (A,B,C,D series)
Cause
one of the passwords entered on the switch does not match the password in the profile
Resolution
From Switch CLI
1. Clear the user from the snmp configuration on the switch
clear snmp user <username>
2. Set the snmp user with correct passwords
set snmp user <username> authentication md5 <password> privacy <password>

From NetSight Console
1. Highlight the switch and right click
2 Select refresh from the pull down menu
