Information

TitleOneView Shows Wireless Controllers as Down
Symptoms
  • Initial configuration of Wireless controller statistics collection
  • OneView shows Wireless controllers as Down
  • OneView > Administration tab > View > Wireless Domain Data shows SYNC_SUCCEEDED
  • Console shows Wireless controllers as Up
  • Oneview device tab shows controller green but Wireless tab showed down with no data
Environment
  • NetSight
  • OneView
  • Extreme Management Center - XMC
Cause
Possible cause: VMware server crashed and was restored.
Resolution
  1. Start XMC
  2. Right click on the affected controller(s)
  3. Select Device -> Delete Device
    • In the resulting "Delete Confirmation" Pop-up, you can select the "Delete Extreme Management Center Data" Check-box.  This will remove all historical information so it's only suggested you do this if nothing else works.  Try without checking this first and if problem continues, run through this a second time deleting the data.
  4. Select Administration -> Diagnostics and set the "Level" Drop-down menu to "Diagnostics"
  5. Select Historical Statistic Collector -> Statistic Collection Configuration
  6. In the resulting Statistic Collection Configuration GUI, search for the affected controller(s)
  7. Delete any affected controller(s) listed
  8. Select Historical Statistic Collector -> Statistic Collection Targets
  9. In the resulting Statistic Collection Targets GUI, search for the affected controller(s)
  10. Delete any affected controller(s) listed
  11. Select Network -> Devices Tab
  12. Re-Add the previously affected controller(s)
  13. Re-enable collection of statistics for both options for Wireless Controller and Wireless Clients
Secondary Possible Resolution:
If the date on the NetSight server is off it could cause problems with the controllers showing up in OneView. Make sure the time on the NetSight server is current.

Third Resolution Option
Delete the Controller from Netsight Server and rediscover
Additional notes
After running the above procedure, it is necessary to wait for two Polling cycles (i.e. 30 minutes) to verify if there has been any effect.

The wireless controller also needs to be modeled without an SNMP context as this will cause unexpected issue in oneView.
