Port from the backup node of the stack not getting added to the LACP aggregator

« Go Back

Information

TitlePort from the backup node of the stack not getting added to the LACP aggregator
Symptoms
Ports from the backup node of a slot are not getting added to the aggregator when connected to a third party device like Palo Alto.
Third party devices like Palo Alto report that the LACP PDUs received from Extreme device is invalid and drops them.
Environment
  • Exos 16.1.3.6 patch 1-7
  • Summit stack
  • VMAN with CEP egress filtering configuration
Cause
When the following command is configured for the backup slot ports, it seems like the LACP PDUs are sent with the VLAN tag value of 0. So, the length of the PDU is 132 instead of 128 bytes and hence the third party devices ignore these PDUs.
enable vman cep egress filtering port <port number>
Ports from the same LACP sharing group is added to the aggregator if it is from the master node. Issue is seen only with the backup slot of a stack. This is identified as a bug. CR xos0069058 is created to fix this issue
Resolution
Workaround:
After configuring the command, rebooting the entire stack would solve the issue.

Resolution would be to upgrade the switch to the version which contains the fix.
