Ports stop forwarding to static fdb entry after link flap or disable/enable LAG port

« Go Back

Information

TitlePorts stop forwarding to static fdb entry after link flap or disable/enable LAG port
Symptoms
Traffic is not forwarded to a static fdbentry (permanent mac address) after the LAG port experienced a link flap or when the port is disabled and enabled.

Environment
  • EXOS
  • Sharing port (LAG)
  • PSTag (Port specific tag)
  • link flap
  • disable/enable port
Cause
This is caused by CR xos0063134.
This is only seen when PSTag is used in the vlan and the port is member of a loadsharing group.
If the port flaps (link down, link up) or when the port is manually disabled and enabled the static fdbentry is programmed wrong in hardware causing traffic loss towards that static fdb entry.

Resolution
Upgrade to a release that contains a fix for CR xos0063134, (at this moment unknown).

When you encounter the problem, delete the static fdb entry and create it again.
In most cases this must be done twice as the first delete does not delete the fdb from all hardware slots.

Do below twice
delete fdbentry <mac> vlan <vlan>
create fdbentry <mac> vlan <vlan> port <port>

Example:
delete fdbentry 00:00:00:00:11:11 vlan test
create fdbentry
00:00:00:00:11:11 vlan test port 1:1
