Information

TitlePurview/Analytics is currently in violation error message in OneView Applications tab or Extreme Management Centers Analytics Tab
Symptoms
  • Error concerning exceeded flows per minute in OneView Applications tab or Analytics Tab in Extreme Management Center (7.x or above)
  • Example error:  Purview is currently in violation Flow rate of 30,449 fpm exceeded limit of 3,00 fpm on 5/14/2015 2:14:57
Environment
  • NetSight
  • OneView
  • Purview
Cause
The number of flows per minute coming into the Purview appliance is exceeding the current license limit. The overview flows a peak rate seen in over a measured hour. So some other statistics may not look like the flows are a problem, but they may be based on an overage, or peak in the last hour reported.

Resolution
this message will not go away until one of the following is true:

1) 7 days pass without exceeding the licensed limit.
2) A Purview license that covers the flows per minute is applied.
Additional notes
It starts out initially as a simple warning, however if they remain in violation for too long (a week) it will begin replacing the identification information with 'License Violation' some of the time - specifically, the application name and application group.

Detailed information on flow rate averages versus peaks can be seen by Using Extreme Controls Analytics Application Flow Rates tool to determine flow capacity requirements for network

Once data is in violation - adding a license that covers the amount of data that was violated does not retrieve the data in violation. It is stored and marked as such.
