Environment
Summit WM3000 Controller
Altitude AP 4600
Altitude AP 4511
WiNG 5.5.5.0-018R
Cause
  • There is a bug related to a RIM process crash on these APs in the WiNG 5.5.5.0-018R version of code. Please see below.
  • Bug ID 27153 - WiNG 5 permits entering underscore character in the host name which causes RIM cores.
Resolution
  • The workaround advised here is to remove the ‘underscore’ character from your AP host names. Please below the below example.
example
hostname DEGP_AP07_ap4600-67E874

change to
hostname DEGP-AP07-ap4600-67E874

  • The permanent fix for this issue lies in upgrading to WiNG 5.7.1.x.
