ERS4900 Reboot of new stack member required before configuration of EAPOL guest VLAN

« Go Back

Information

TitleERS4900 Reboot of new stack member required before configuration of EAPOL guest VLAN
Symptoms
When new member is added to a stack, the configuration of eapol guest vlan is not possible until reboot of new stack member.

Here is the error message:

4950GTS-PWR+(config-if)#eapol guest-vlan port 3/ALL enable vid 199
% Cannot modify settings
% Guest VLAN should be a CVLAN if SPB is enabled in MHMV mode

Environment
ERS4900
Cause
For the purpose of this bug solely, when a fresh NBU gets the SPBM config from Base, also set the C-VLAN spbm_type field in the VLAN structure when creating the associated I-SID.
This field was filled in only from SPB and in the case of a new unit joining, it was not propagated when the new NBU got its config.
Resolution
Bug fix included in 7.8.2 SW release.

As workaround do reboot of the new stack member to pass the command without error message.
