  • Rogue APs showing in the ExtremeWireless appliance Client report as Kindle devices.
Environment
  • ExtremeWireless appliances.
  • ExtremeWireless Access Points AP3825, AP39xx.

Cause
Guardian APs will periodically send out Request attempts to Open SSIDs to guage WIPS functionality, and those connections get listed in Client Reports. However, the APs should get another Device Type listing, not Kindle.
Resolution
  • New classification for Rogue APs, when connecting to Open SSIDs as clients, has been implemented.
  • APs shouls now be classified as EXTR-RADAR-MU.
  • Please upgrade to 10.41.19 and 10.51.10, when they are available on our Wireless Support Download page.
Additional notes
If the NAC/XMC end device reports are still showing the APs as Kindles, please search for all Kindle devices, delete them from the end device reports, and allow the XMC to relearn these APs.
