S-Series MACAuth Reauthentication has some latency

« Go Back

Information

TitleS-Series MACAuth Reauthentication has some latency
Symptoms
S-Series MACAuth Reauthentication has some latency
Environment
  • S-Series
  • Extreme Control NAC
  • MAC Authentication Reauthentication latency
  • SNMP Set reauth
Cause
When trying to reauthenticate a device on S-Series we must wait for a packet to come in from the device for the authentication to occur
Resolution
  • The SNMP reauthentication mechanism clears the users current session from the S Series session tables. The S Series must receive a packet from the client to authenticate the device again after the SNMP reauthentication. This process will be delayed however long it takes for the client to source another packet that would be seen on the S series.
  • This behavior is functioning as designed.
