TitleS-Series: Telnet/SSH connections for management are not allowed
Symptoms
  • unable to connect to the switch via telnet or ssh
  • "show users" show that there is capacity for a connection but it simply wont connect more than one or two connections
  • each time the following error occurs the host will accept one less telnet connection
163>Apr 28 14:04:28 10.245.5.41 Telnet[13.tTnetICLI0]telnetInTask: Can't get pty name

 
Environment
S-Series
Firmware 8.22.04
Cause
Firmware Issue
Resolution
Upgrade to Firmware 8.42.04

If the further telnet session do become locked we now have the ability to reset the sessions from 8.42.04 by doing the following :

 
"set telnet disable all" 
"set telnet enable all"

Workaround:

Prior to version 8.42.04 the only workaround is to Reset the management blade
