Symptoms
  • If 08.63.04.0003/4 is downloaded to a chassis that contains I/O blades that have 1G of DRAM and 8 Switch (Fuji) chips, the will go into a reboot loop, not being able to boot because of running out of memory.
  • Messages in log will be similar to:

Environment

  • Firmware 8.63.04
  • Firmware 8.63.05
  • I/O blades that have 1G of DRAM 
  • blades also have 8 Switch (Fuji) chips
  • This issue does not exist for any Fabric blades regardless of SDRAM size and switch chip count. 
Cause
Firmware issue in 8.63.04 and potentially also on 8.63.05 which causes these specific blades to run out of memory at boot time and go into a boot loop
This was thought to be fixed initially in 8.63.05 but though lessened , some blades still had issues.
Resolution
Upgrade to Firmware 8.63.06
