Symptoms
  • Switch shows down in Inventory Manager
  • Inventory Manager error "no contact to device"
Environment
  • Summit: X460
  • NetSight: Inventory Manager
  • EXOS: 15.6.3.1
Cause
Telnet disabled
No SSH module installed
Resolution
  1. Enable Telnet or
  2. Install and enable SSH specific to the EXOS version currently running
  3. Restart snmpMaster process
    1. restart process snmpmaster
Additional notes
NetSight NMS utilizes Telnet and SSH when polling devices via SNMP (telnet via SNMPv1 & v2, SSH via SNMP v3).  If telnet is disabled SSH must be installed, enabled, and active.  If utilizing SSH; it is necessary to install the SSH module specific to the upgraded EXOS version.
