Symptoms
SNMP Contact to Admin port on IdentiFi Wireless controller is not working
Environment
  • IdentiFi Wireless
  • All software versions
  • Admin port interface used for management
Cause
If Netsight is in a remote subnet to the Admin port IP address, the return packets to SNMP queries will leave a physical controller port based on the default route/static routes configured
Resolution
  • It's recommended to use a physical topology mapped to a dedicated Network port (esa0, esa1, etc) instead of using the Admin port 
  • Admin port must be in same subnet range as Netsight Server
  • A Default Gateway configured on Admin port will not be used for return SNMP packets
Additional notes
This behavior will not be changed as the Admin port on physical controllers is intended to be used only for out-of-box installation.
