Cause
  • The error is caused by a large number of unacknowledged SNMP informs within a relatively short period of time
  • SNMP informs must be retained until the switch receive an acknowledgement from the receiver or have exhausted our retries 
  • In order to protect memory from situations where there are huge numbers of unacknowledged informs, a limit is set above which we do grow the queue any more
  • When the limit is reached we send a syslog message to notify users
Resolution
  • Check the management stations for the devices that are reporting these queue overflows to make sure everything is configured correctly.
  • Verify that the management station(s) are receiving and replying to the informs
Additional notes
This is intended operation of the switch (Functioning As Designed), and is not a problem in itself
