TitleSolarWinds NPM Fails to Bring Up All Interface Resources When Trying to Perform The "List Resources" Function
Symptoms
The SolarWinds NPM fails to bring up all interface resources when you try to perform a "List Resources" function
Environment
  • Summit
  • X460
  • EXOS version 15.5.x
  • SolarWinds NPM

Cause
  • SolarWinds does not receive all SNMP get requests back from stacks/switches
  • SolarWinds default  timeout  value for "SNMP Timeout" is set to low
Resolution
Increase the SNMP Timeout value in SolarWinds

Through the Solarwinds GUI
  1. Click On Settings
  2. Go to "Thresholds & Polling" section
  3. Click on "Polling Settings"
  4. Scroll Down to "Network" section
  5. Change "SNMP Timeout" value from 2500ms (Default) to 10000ms
**NOTE** 10000ms is the maximum value that the GUI will allow you to enter. To go higher than 10 seconds, the database must be  modified directly.

Going Higher Than 10 second SNMP Timeout
  1. Log into SolarWinds Server
  2. Run the SolarWinds DB Admin Tool
  3. Modify dbo.Settings "SNMP Timeout" CurrentValue Column from 10000 to something higher
**NOTE** DO NOT Modify "Minimum" or "Maximum " columns.
Additional notes
SolarWinds possibly resets the SNMP Timeout value to the default (2.5 seconds) after a software upgrade or patch to the server.
