Information

TitleTwo AP3620 Access Points in a WDS setup are performing poorly, and much lower Rx and Tx rates than similar WDS/Mesh configurations in the same network.
Symptoms
Two AP3620 Access Points in a WDS setup are performing poorly, and much lower Rx and Tx rates than similar WDS/Mesh configurations in the same network.
Environment
  • ExtremeWireless Appliances, V-2110 and C-4110
  • AP3620
  • firmware 9.21.16 through 9.21.18
Cause
  • Original issue resolution was an RMA, but the WDS/Mesh links are still showing signs of low throughput/performance.
  • Each AP3620e has two antennas in use, not three, which will reduce the overall expected throughput.
Resolution
  • Use three external antennas if possible.
  • Recommended settings for the AP3620 in a WDS setup:
    • Radio mode - a/n
    • N-protection mode set to Always.
    • N-protection type set to RTS-CTS.
