     next-hop-mpls compare-lsp-metric
  • Prefixes received via BGP route reflector are present in BGP vrf table but not installed due to the next hop being unreachable
  • No LSP configured for next-hop seen in the "under the router mpls configuration
show ip bgp vrf user-vrf routes detail a.b.c.d // a.b.c.d is the BGP prefix received
Environment
  • Netiron OS
  • MLX/MLXe series
  • XMR series
  • CER/CES series
  • BGP
  • MPLS LDP
  • Route-reflector
Cause
BGP routes were not installed in the routing table because the next hop is only reachable via LDP. According to the Netiron command reference, the next-hop-mpls command configures BGP shortcuts which force BGP to use an MPLS tunnel as the preferred route to a destination network when an MPLS tunnel is available.

Resolution
  • Configure an LSP to the next hop
    device(config)# router mpls
    device(config-mpls)# lsp tonexthopdevicehostname
    device(config-mpls-lsp-tonexthopdevicehostname)# to 9.9.9.9
    device(config-mpls-lsp-tonexthopdevicehostname)# enable
    Connecting signaled LSP tonexthopdevicehostname
    device(config-mpls-lsp-tonexthopdevicehostname)# end
    device#
