Information

TitleUsers in the large auditorium rooms are facing poor performance, dropped connections, and spotty usage during the time when the auditorium is full.
Symptoms
Users in the large auditorium rooms are facing poor performance, dropped connections, and spotty usage during the time when the auditorium is full.
Environment
  • ExtremeWireless appliances, C-5210
  • WS-AP-3825i
  • firmware 10.21.xx, 10.31.04 and lower.
Cause
Spectrum Analysis shows very good coverage and RSS throughout the auditorium and entrances, but the user count per Access Point approached over 100 users in some areas.
Resolution
  • Total user count and RF coverage area should be taken into account for the number of Access Points needed to handle all users.
  • Best Practice settings for Ultra-Dense auditoriums should be deployed.
  • Depending on the actual Access point placement, the use of External Access points with Semi-Directional antennas should be considered.
  • For areas closer to the stage, or production booths, the use of Internal Access Points with lower power settings should be considered.
