Cause
VDX 6740T port doesn't force itself to be in MASTER mode and allows AN to decide the role to be played. With Intel NIC, VDX port needs to be in MASTER
mode always and this bring the link up with 1G immediately. If we let the AN decide on master/slave role we end up in 100mbps.
Resolution
  • DEFECT000647282
  • Fixed in 7.0.2a & later version of code
Additional notes
The fix for DEFECT000647282 consists of a newly included Python script link-Configure-MASTER.py that can be run with the "execute-script" command. This script was created specifically for Intel I350 NICs that showed frequent link flaps when connected to VDX6740T and VDX6740T-1G copper interfaces.

The first time it is run it must be run with the "1" option. After that a space-separated list of interface numbers must be entered followed by pressing the Enter key.

After subsequent reloads, the script must be manually re-run with the "2" option to once again force the previously entered interfaces into Master mode.
