TitleVLAN not propagating across the network after enabling MVRP
Symptoms
  • MVRP is enabled but local VLANs do not propagate to neighboring switches
  • No ports added to VLANs
Environment
  • EXOS 15.3 and newer
  • All EXOS Platforms
  • Summit
  • BlackDiamond
Cause
A MVRP enabled port will only advertise a VLAN if that VLAN has been added to another port on the switch.  If the VLAN has no other ports, it will not be advertised.
Resolution
Add another port to the VLAN.  The VLAN should then be propagated out all MVRP enabled ports.
Additional notes
Consider the following scenario:

MVRP is enabled on port 2 of each switch and added to the default VLAN untagged.  A new VLAN test is created and added tagged to port 2 of Switch B.

Note: The following MVRP commands are required but are enabled by default:
conf mvrp vlan auto-creation on
conf mvrp vlan registration normal
conf mvrp tag 500 ports 2 registration normal
conf mvrp tag 500 ports 2 transmit on
