« Go Back

Information

TitleVPLS traffic is not forwarded to the peer when the service port has software redundant port configuration
Symptoms
With Software redundant port is  configured on VPLS service VMAN, when primary or secondary port goes down, the other port is not passing traffic through the tunnel.
Environment
EXOS 16.1 and above
Summit series
MPLS with VPLS VMAN service configured.
Cause
This is identified as a software bug. When the software redundant port is configured on the VPLS service VMAN, it is expected that the failover does not result in any connectivity issues. However, when the primary or secondary port is down, the traffic is not forwarded in the VPLS tunnel resulting in the connectivity loss.
CR xos0077246 is created to address this issue.
Resolution
Work-around:

Remove the primary and secondary ports from the service VMAN and add them back after encountering the issue.

Solution:

The fix for the CR is targeted for the patch in 22.7. Please check the release notes to confirm the availability of the fix.
