  • Duplicacy detected on VLAN interface due to GARP packets.
10/01/2017 15:21:00.81 <Erro:vlan.dad.IPAddrDup> x.x.x.x on interface TEST is Duplicate. Neighbor 00:00:5E:00:01:D6 has the same IP Address
10/01/2017 15:21:00.81 <Erro:vlan.dad.IPAddrDup> x.x.x.x on interface TEST is Duplicate. Neighbor 00:00:5E:00:01:D6 has the same IP Address
10/01/2017 15:21:00.74 <Erro:vlan.dad.IPAddrDup> x.x.x.x on interface TEST is Duplicate. Neighbor 00:00:5E:00:01:D6 has the same IP Address
Environment
  • All EXOS platforms.
Cause
  • During VRRP failover situation the new master starts sending GARP followed by VRRP hellos.
  • The GARP packet would contain the virtual IP address which is same as that of the physical IP of the old master.
  • DAD being enabled, the duplicacy is detected and would further not allow to enable VRRP in old master considering it as an invalid IP.
Resolution
  • Turn-off DAD. However this would create issue as no duplicate address in the network would be detected any further as this command is executed a global level.
  • Alternatively, do not make the VRRP VRIP same as physical VLAN interface IP address.
