  • WLANs are not advertising 802.11n data rates, despite being configured for 802.11a/n.
  • show wireless radio detail does not show 802.11n data rates advertised on 5 GHz radios, only 802.11a data rates.

  • 802.11n
Cause
WMM is disabled on the WLAN QoS policy. WMM is required per the 802.11n spec.
Resolution
Ensure that WMM is enabled in the wlan-qos-policy. This can be enabled with the following commands:
  • config
  • wlan-qos-policy <WLAN_QOS_POLICY_NAME>
  • classification wmm
  • qos trust wmm
  • commit write
Additional notes
After commiting the QoS changes, 802.11n data rates should be advertised.

Note that TKIP encryption may also cause client to be limited to 54 Mbps data rates. See Wireless N clients do not connect at data rates higher than 54 Mbps
