TitleClient connection issue on 5ghz may occur on 3825 with 10.41 and Management Frame Protection enabled
Symptoms
Client connection issue on 5ghz may occur on 3825 with 10.41 and Management Frame Protection enabled
Client cannot connect to 5ghz radio on 3825 running 10.41.
Environment
  • ExtremeWireless
  • WS-AP3825
  • 10.41.03
  • Management Frame Protection (MFP)
  • 5ghz
Cause
This is currently under investigation, but there is a loss of traffic descriptor resources available for the 5ghz interfaces.  This can occur on WLAN's where Management Frame Protection is not enable, if it is enabled on just one WLAN assigned to the same radio.
Resolution
  • Workaround is to disable Management Frame Protection
  • Fixes added in 10.41.11 or higher
Additional notes
Log messages may show lost_nis= a non-zero value (ie, 1,2, etc..)  Example:
krn: ieee80211_node.c:1031-gclist_timeout()-lost_nis=1 lost_skbs=0

Log messages may include the following:
Scan already running ath0 issue scan fail.

Release Note: wns0020142 - Improved client compatibility for AP38xx when MFP is enabled.

Note:  When MFP is working correctly, fi MFP is enabled on one WLAN, it will not effect client connectivity on another WLAN where it has been disabled.
