Symptoms
Uploading an image onto the controller fails and the following error message is displayed at the end of the process:
 
Extracting files (this may take some time).......................................................................
Control C disabled
Are you sure the certificate is valid? The date is May 16 11:32:21 2005
The certificate valid times are: notBefore=Sep 21 23:34:01 2006 GMT notAfter=Nov 2 23:34:01 2036 GMT
 
Update error:  Failure in openssl. Verification failure. certificate is not yet valid
Environment
  • WiNG 5.x
  • WiNG controllers
Cause
Possible causes:
  1. The date on the controller is incorrect and does not adhere to the supported SSL certificate valid times.
  2. The firmware image got corrupted while downloading/uploading
  3. The media the firmware is on such as a USB thumb drive may not be suitable
Resolution
  1. Make sure that the time and date on the controller are current.

  1. Download a fresh copy of the firmware image
  2. Upgrade from CLI instead of GUI through an SSH (secure shell) or console port connection using FTP
