Information

TitleWireless clients are unable to associate to WiNG Access Points due to Association-ACL-policy
Symptoms
Wireless clients are unable to associate to WiNG Access Points due to Association-ACL-policy.

Example of Association-ACL-Policy denying wireless client association from event-history.
2017-07-03 09:45:22 WiNGAP DOT11 CLIENT_DENIED_ASSOC Client 'AA-BB-CC-DD-EE-FF' denied association on radio 'WiNGAP:R1' wlan 'WiNGSSID': wlan association acl

Environment
· WiNG 5.x
· RFS series controllers
· NX series controllers
· VX series controllers
· WiNG APs (non legacy)
Cause
  • Association-ACL-Policy was created but not configured to 'allow' or 'deny' any MAC addresses. Without any configuration an explicit 'deny' rule is applied within the Association-ACL-Policy resulting in no wireless client association.
Resolution
  • Unmap Association-ACL-Policy from WLANs to allow clients to associate.
  • Configured Association-ACL-Policy to 'allow' and or 'deny' necessary wireless client MAC addresses.
