  • Firmware 9.21.x
  • Firmware 10.01.x
  • v2110
  • ESX
  • Virtual controller
Cause
Bug in vmxnet3 virtual network driver
Resolution
Possible workarounds:
  1. Enable PVSCSI (paravirtual) SCSI controller:  V2110 Controller Showing Error When Booting
  2. Enable logging to a serial port in ESXi: How to add a serial port to a v2110 controller on an ESXi host
  3. Increase memory on the virtual controller from 2GB to 4GB v2110 wireless controller may run out of memory when the vmware host memory is overcomitted
  4. Rebuild the controller from the original v2110 factory image and restore a backup from the original controller.
  5. If the physical host has 10 gigabit ports as his uplinks, 1 customer has seen changing to 1 gigabit help.
Resolution:
  1. Upgrade to 10.11.02 or higher
  2. Upgrade to 9.21.12 or higher
