Information

TitleSummit switch is not powering up Cisco 7940 or Cisco 7910 IP phones
Symptoms
Summit switch is not powering up Cisco 7940 or Cisco 7910 IP phones, no link light.
Environment
  • Summit X440, X460
  • EXOS
Cause
The following Cisco IP phones only support Cisco pre-standard PoE: 7960, 7940, 7910, 7912, 7905, 7902. All the newer Cisco IP phones should be compatible with both 802.3af AND Cisco pre-standard PoE.
Resolution
Enabling legacy inline-power using the command configure inline-power detection legacy-and-802.3af ports <port_list> may allow these phones to receive power.

If legacy-and-802.3af still doesn't bring up the phone, then use "bypass" mode:
configure inline-power detection bypass port <port-list>
Additional notes
Prior to EXOS 16.1, this was required to be enabled per-slot, not per port. The command for this is enable inline-power legacy {slot <slot#>}
